Connect WordPress
#A small plugin reports crawler requests after WordPress has built the page. If reporting fails, your page is unaffected. On hosts without PHP-FPM or LiteSpeed, such as Apache with mod_php, it sends requests in the background through WP-Cron, within a few minutes; if Searchly can't be reached, it retries when WP-Cron next runs, on a later page view. If your site sets DISABLE_WP_CRON, a system cron job must run wp-cron.php; if it sets ALTERNATE_WP_CRON, queued requests are sent on the next page view. Install it one of two ways:
- With file access: save the code from Setup as a file in
wp-content/mu-plugins, and add the line from Setup that definesSEARCHLY_CRAWLER_TOKENtowp-config.php. Must-use plugins load without activation. - Without file access: install the Code Snippets plugin and add a PHP snippet with the code from Setup, without its opening PHP tag, and the
wp-config.phpline at its top. Set it to run everywhere and activate it.
The plugin doesn't see requests that a page cache or CDN answers before WordPress runs, which on a cached site is most crawler requests. If your site runs behind Cloudflare, use the Cloudflare guide instead. The plugin sends no IP address, so its requests are declared. WordPress.com plans that don't allow plugins can't use it.
