Set your comparison

#

Tracked competitors define the brands you compare with your own in AEO Insights. Choose competitors that answer the same customer need, then review how the AI answers describe each brand.

Use the same prompts, date range, and model filters for a comparison. A competitor's score in your project describes its presence in your tracked question set.

Share of voice also depends on the tracked comparison set. Keep that set consistent when you want to compare periods.

Add a competitor

#
  1. Open Knowledge Base from the sidebar.
  2. Choose Competitors.
  3. Select Add competitor.
  4. Enter the brand name and its domain if available.
  5. Select Add.

Use the brand's recognizable name. The domain helps Searchly display and classify the competitor's website in the reports.

Compare results

#

Open AEO Insights and start with Visibility. The rankings show how often the tracked brands appear and where they rank when mentioned.

Use Models or Topics to check whether a competitor's presence concentrates in a particular model or subject. In Sentiment, inspect the tone of the mentions where scored data is available.

Open Sources and use Gap Analysis to find domains cited for competitors where your brand has no matching owned citation in the selected results. Read the cited pages before deciding whether the gap is relevant.

Remove a competitor

#

In Knowledge Base, open Competitors and select the remove control beside the brand. Confirm Remove to stop benchmarking against it.

Review the comparison set before interpreting a change in share of voice. Removing a competitor changes the set of mentions used in that comparison.

Understand your metrics explains the denominators for visibility and share of voice.
